Paul Ryan: A Speaker in review
When former House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) made the announcement in September 2015 that he was resigning, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) didn't seek to replace him. He didn't ask to be House Speaker. At least not at first. Paul Ryan had to be convinced to accept the nomination for Speaker of the House. His fellow Republicans asked him to run for House Speaker, and he finally agreed. And now he's the unifying leader of the Republican Party. Ryan didn’t seek his position as leader of the House Republicans, but he stepped up into his role like a real man. That statement is bold, but it's true. Ryan was the only person able to unify the different factions within the Republican Party. Yes, Ryan had his work cut out for him. He still does. But he's worked hard to unify a frayed party.
