The 20-year-old University of Iowa student had been missing for over a month after she went jogging at around 7:30pm on July 18 near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa. She never came back home. Tibbetts’s case sparked national attention and sparked an intensive search. Her family hoped she might still be alive. Her dad pleaded for her safe release. Investigators covered hundreds of “leads” looking for her. Shortly after Tibbetts’s body was found today, authorities arrested a 24-year-old illegal immigrant, Cristhian Rivera, for her murder .
