Illegal Immigration and the Caravan: The Battle for the Heart of the United States
When a large group of foreign nationals gather towards a country’s border, their intent is usually hostile. At the start of World War I in 1914, Belgium knew that when the German Army marched towards their country that they were being invaded. The Schlieffen Plan, named after the German general of the same name, was carefully planned and organized. The Germans knew going through Belgium and violating Belgian sovereignty was the best course of action to achieve their goals. Now, the United States is facing a growing threat from Central America—a large body of people from Honduras and El Salvador determined to violate our national sovereignty by breaching the U.S.-Mexico Border. The migrant “caravan” made up of over 5,000 Central Americans continues their march north towards the United States. They are now less than 1,000 miles from our border.
