Thoughts on Trump’s national emergency declaration
President
Donald Trump declared a national emergency in order to complete the border wall
he promised voters in 2016.
In
addition to signing a spending bill in order to avert another government
shutdown, President Trump declared a national emergency earlier today from the Rose Garden in
order to secure our Southern Border. He plans to secure an additional $8
billion in order to build more sections of the border wall, taken from defense
funds and other department funds that can be used in an emergency
situation.
The
spending bill, passed by both the
Senate and the House late Thursday night, February 14, Valentine’s Day,
only includes $1.4 billion for border security.
That is
far less than the $5.8 billion Trump sought for the border wall. And only a
fraction of the original $20 billion he wanted last year.
Experts
on the Southern Border, including border patrol agents, told Democrats and
Republicans that they needed in order to effectively enforce the entire
U.S.-Mexico Border and stop illegal immigration into the United States.
President
Trump knows his supporters, his base, wants a wall. He was willing to
compromise with Democrats in order to get the funding, but they stonewalled
him.
This
compromise spending bill is flawed, but it was necessary in order to avoid
another government shutdown, which would have hurt the President.
Now,
President Trump is forced to use executive action in order to complete the
border wall and secure the Southern Border of the United States.
As Trump
predicted in his speech when he declared a national emergency from the Rose
Garden today, Democrats and liberals are going to sue him in order to bog down
his declaration in the courts and stop him from carrying it out for the
near-future.
The
President is bound to face legal challenges from Democrats on his authority to
declare a national emergency for the border wall. It will go straight to the
liberal, and anti-Trump, Ninth Circuit of Appeals stationed in San Francisco,
California.
Democrats,
including Nancy Pelosi and Jerry Nadler of New York, threatened for weeks to
sue Trump if he declared a national emergency in order to secure funds to build
a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico Border.
Now,
one argument Democrats say should stop Trump from declaring a national
emergency is the notion that any sitting U.S. President can declare a national
emergency for an issue they are passionate about. Like a Democrat President
declaring one to stop climate change.
Good
luck with that.
Here’s
the problem though: Democrats, Hollywood and elitists waste more energy and
resources than normal Americans do.
Hollywood
actors and Democrats travel in private jets and live in multi-million dollar
mansions.
Film
production companies and television networks waste more energy and resources
creating TV shows, feature films, and commercials. They also waste tens and
hundreds of millions of dollars on these projects, many of them a waste of our
hard-earned money and time.
Remember
the
report that Al Gore’s house
uses more resources and energy in one year than the average American family
does in over 21 years?
Or when
Congressional
Democrats went on a luxury beach
vacation to Puerto Rico during the government shutdown last month?
Compared
to prominent Democrats and Hollywood elitists, ordinary Americans like us have
a minimum impact on our environment. And yet they are the ones demanding we,
the American people, comply with their failed Green policies and give up our
electricity, water, fossil fuels and gasoline.
Give me
a break.
In
contrast, Trump’s declaration of a national emergency in order to build a
border wall is rooted in facts. He issued his declaration in the interest of
national security, not simply politics.
Illegal
and addictive drugs pour across open sections along the Southern Border and
kill millions of Americans due to overdoses.
And
just like the legal challenges Democrats are gonna throw against Trump’s
national emergency declaration, a Democrat President will also face legal
challenges from the American people and conservatives.
The
only difference is that conservatives are justified in doing so. Democrats are
only gonna sue Trump because they hate him and the fact that the American
people voted for him. They’ve done this time and time again every time Trump
issues an executive order.
Make no
mistake: the Democrats are no longer the party of JFK. They don’t embrace
American exceptionalism and American nationalism the way Kennedy did. They
don’t support the rights of unborn children or everyday Americans. They are
anti-conservative and anti-Catholic.
As
Commander-in-Chief, President Trump has the authority to declare a national
emergency. He is working to protect Americans from any and all threats coming
across our borders and put up a wall to protect our borders and
sovereignty.
The
American people are tired of obstructionist Democrats and their embrace of open
borders and Socialism. We elected Donald Trump and support his polices. And we will
fight to protect our rights and the United States.
