The Canadian government signed a law to have American hockey fans arrested.

Their charge: rooting against Canadian hockey teams.

With the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs kicking off, the lawmakers plan to crack down on hockey fans rooting for American teams in the NHL.

“This is just the next logical step in our moral quest to end all ‘hate speech’ in Canada,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a press conference in Toronto.

Trudeau and his government hope to intimidate fans of NHL teams located in the United States, especially when it comes to home playoff games for Canadian teams.

“I just can’t stand seeing some guy in a Chicago Blackhawks jersey sitting right next to me at a game,” one distraught Canadian said. “How dare they show support for their American hockey team?”

Some U.S. hockey fans pledged to take a knee or sit in their seats during the playing of “O, Canada,” the national anthem of Canada, at hockey games in protect against the Canadian government. Others are wearing Team USA gear in support of their country.

President Trump has come to hockey fans’ defense and threatened to close the Northern Border with Canada if Trudeau goes through with this new law.

“Justin Trudeau can’t stand that American is better than Canada in every way,” Trump tweeted. “He’s doing this to attack Americans and we aren’t gonna have that. No more U.S. money to Canada!”
