Having receiving positive feedback after releasing gameplay footage for their new video game, “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn announced their next project.

The video game production company announced that a “Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast” make is in the pre-production phase of development.

And it won’t have any loot boxes or microtransactions.

“What we’re doing is following the original PC video game and remaking it to 2019 standards of gaming effects,” a Respawn spokesman said at E3 2019. “It’s the same thing Capcon did with the Resident Evil 2 remake. Only we’re doing a Star Wars game.”

The original “Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast,” released in 2002, featured Kyle Katarn as the main protagonist. Katarn was a great and popular character in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

Respawn revealed that the new “Jedi Outcast” remake is set in the same timeline as the original Star Wars Trilogy, completely ignoring the events and storyline of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and will focus on retelling the adventures of Kyle Katarn and his love interest, Jan Ors.

“This is the Star Wars story that fans deserve,” the Respawn spokesman said. “We’re also working with a film production company to create a ‘Jedi Outcast’ companion film to go along with the game so that fans are able to watch a live-action version of Kyle Katarn during several cutscenes throughout the game.

“It’s like you’re watching a movie and playing a video game at the same time,” he added.

The “Jedi Outcast” remake is scheduled to begin production in 2020, after Respawn expects to earn millions of dollars off “Jedi: Fallen Order.”

It remains to be seen if Respawn will use the same first-person and third-person gaming mechanics as the original “Jedi Outcast,” or use the dynamics of “Jedi: Fallen Order.”
