14 More Movies that can’t be made today
This is a continuation of other articles that I have written about movies and TV shows that cannot be made today because of the Left’s identity politics, anti-traditionalism and anti-Americanism.
I hope you enjoy this list.
1) The Emperor’s New Groove
Just as “Pocahontas” was considered to be racist by Progressives, so would “The Emperor’s New Groove” be considered racist for its depiction of the Incas in Peru.
Native American activists would call the portrayal of Emperor Kuzco as “offensive” because it portrays an Incan leader as an idiot who exploits his subjects for his own amusement until he learns his lesson by getting turned into a llama.
2) Walt Disney’s Johnny Tremain
Any film that shows a positive portrayal of America, especially during the American Revolution, is subjected to be shunned by the Left.
Such is the case for “Johnny Tremain,” which is centered around the young man of the title in 1770s Boston before, during and after the Boston Tea Party and the start of the American Revolution.
In the Left-Wing Progressive view, America is an evil count try founded on racism and slavery — instead of on freedom and liberty as everyday conservative Americans view it.
“Johnny Tremain” would fall victim to “Cancel Culture” in our present day. The film isn’t listed on DisneyPlus, despite the movie being a Disney property directed by Walt Disney himself.
3) Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier
This film couldn’t be made today because it has a positive portrayal of Davy Crockett, one of the heroes of the Alamo in the Texas War for Independence in 1836.
There has been a lot of controversy by the Left against American heroes. Progressives judge these men and women by today’s standards instead of the historical time period in which they lived. These were different in the 1800s than they are today.
Progressives in Hollywood would now portray Davy Crockett as a villain because he fought against Indians under future-President Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812 and then fought against Mexicans at the Alamo in order to free Texas from General Santa Anna.
We can’t judge historical figures, or people who lived in the past, by the ideals, beliefs, or values we have today.
People like Davy Crockett, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson and so on can’t be vilified because they loved America, helped make America a free country, and fought against America’s enemies.
4) The “Rocky” franchise, especially Rocky IV
Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone) is an everyday man. He struggled to make a living and had a real underdog story in and out of the boxing ring.
Throughout the series, we see ourselves in Rocky because he’s an ordinary American like us. The odds are against him, but he keeps on fighting.
“Rocky IV” is about American freedom and exceptionalism versus Soviet Communism (Socialism). Rocky is as pro-America as you could get.
Today’s Hollywood would never support such a pro-American film or character, especially in the age of President Donald Trump.
5) The Greatest Showman
“The Greatest Showman” tells the story of P.T. Barnum (played by Hugh Jackman), the guy who founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus.
It is one of the more recently made films on this list.
This movie couldn’t be made today because of the backlash the film received for its portrayal of Barnum.
Progressives claim that the real life P.T. Barnum grew up wealthy and abused the people in his show, and there may be historical evidence to back that up.
There’s also the real-life animal abuse allegations surrounding the Barnum & Bailey Circus. This controversy forced the show’s cancelation after over one hundred years.
But here’s the thing: Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Barnum is a good character. This Barnum is a good man despite being eccentric at times and not making some prudent business decisions. The audience is meant to sympathize with Jackman’s character because of his rough upbringing and cares about his family and employees whenever he isn’t blinded by his success. He is given both a rags-to-riches storyline and a redemptive story arc.
6) The Prince of Egypt and 7) Joseph: King of Dreams
These two DreamWorks films are grouped together because they can’t be made today due to the Left’s anti-Semitism.
As soon as President Donald Trump announced his decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and followed through on his campaign promise, progressives have condemned his administration and the State of Israel, the official country of the Jewish people.
Democrats and prominent liberals support the BDS Movement, which aims at defunding, boycotting and alienating the Jewish State in retaliation for Israel defending itself against Palestinians and terrorist ground like Hamas.
Anti-Semitism in the Democrat Party has only gotten worse with the election of “Squad” members Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, both outspoken Socialists who are Jew haters and anti-Israel Congresswomen.
Films that show positive portrayals of Jewish patriarchs Moses (“The Prince of Egypt”) and Joseph (“Joseph: King of Dreams”) would not sit well with today’s Democrat Socialists and their supporters in Hollywood.
8) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” can’t be made today because it can symbolize President Donald Trump’s fight against the Deep State.
Steve Rogers (player by Chris Evans) can also be seen as a President Trump-like figure fighting back against the Deep State and Washington Establishment.
In the film, Rogers uncovers a conspiracy within SHIELD and a plot to kill millions of Americans.
And as we’ve seen and heard, the Political Establishment, the “Swamp,” the Intelligence Community and the Deep State have been working to target President Donald Trump, his campaign and his administration before he even won the 2016 Election.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” showed us that we can’t trust the bureaucratic government in Washington, D.C., and the Intelligence Community to have our well-being.
Steve Rogers stands for American and our rights and freedoms as individuals and as Americans.
And since Hollywood progressives support the Democrats’ agenda of expanding the power of government in contrast to Trump’s fight against the DC Swamp’s Big Government and the Deep State, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier can’t be made today.
9) Home Alone
“Home Alone” tells the story of how young Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) defends himself and his home from evil burglars after he is accidently left home for Christmas.
Kevin sets traps inside his house against the Wet Bandits, which in real life would seriously injure or kill people.
“Home Alone” couldn’t be made today because the Progressive Left believes American citizens shouldn’t be able to defend themselves against assailants.
Just look at what happened to Mark and Patricia McCloskey. All they did was stand their ground and show their guns against an angry BLM-Antifa mob that broke into their gated neighborhood and threatened the couple.
And yet, zealous liberal prosecutor Kimberly Gardner (who is funded by billionaire globalist George Soros) made it her mission to go after the McCloskeys because they were lawful gun owners.
Today’s Democrat Party and the Liberal Media would side with the Wet Bandits against Kevin McCallister and say Kevin had no right to defend himself against criminals.
10) Mr. Smith goes to Washington (1939)
Mr. Smith goes to Washington tells the story of Jefferson Smith (played by James Stewart). Smith is appointed by his state Governor to fill an empty seat in the U.S. Senate after a senator dies.
Despite their different backgrounds (Smith is a young idealist and Trump is a serious realist), President Trump and Mr. Smith share similarities. They both are political outsiders who establishment politicians hate. Neither of them had any experience in politics before getting their office. (Smith was the leader of a Boy Scout-like troop and Trump was a businessman.) And the two of them are political outsiders fighting against the Political Establishment.
In one instance, Smith goes around Washington beating up reporters after they print false stories against him that make him look like an idiot. Can you imagine President Trump doing that to CNN and MSNBC hosts instead of calling them out for their “fake news”?
Later in the film, the corrupt establishment politicains produce false evidence against Smith in order to discredit him.
Sound familiar? It’s just like the Democrats’ sham impeachment against President Trump.
Progressives in Hollywood can’t stand Trump, much less any other political outsider fighting back against the Establishment and the Deep State.
11) V For Vendetta (2005)
“V For Vendetta (2005)” is a classic example of the tried and true saying: “What Democrats accuse Republicans of doing is exactly what they do.”
We saw this with the 2016 Election. Democrats accused President Donald Trump of colluding with a foreign country (Russia), when in fact they were the ones colluding with Russia and China and spying on Trump’s campaign.
And like a lot of movies and TV shows (especially in the age of Trump), liberal woke Hollywood uses “V For Vendetta” to show conservatives as evil when in fact their actions are carried out by liberal Socialists and Marxists.
The film paints the evil dictator as a member of a conservative party, when in real life he would be a liberal, a leftist, a socialist, a Marxist.
“V For Vendetta” also features elements and plot details very similar to 2020: the media lying to the people and covering up the truth; an evil government blaming America for everything bad that happens (including a deadly virus); a system censoring views and words they don’t like (just like today’s “cancel culture”); a totalitarian regime demanding complete obedience (remember the Covid lockdown restrictions and extended lockdowns imposed by Democrats, many of whom ignore their own rules?); and people turning to a supposed savior to return things to normal out of fear (with John Hurt’s character as an analogy for Joe Biden in 2020)
And keep in mind, this film came out in 2005 and based on a graphic novel.
Ever since Donald Trump first ran as a candidate and won in the 2016 Election, liberal Hollywood has more openly injected anti-Trump, anti-America First, anti-American, and anti-conservative themes into their movies and TV shows.
They’ll continue to paint conservatives and capitalism as evil and demean the “MAGA” and “America First” actions accomplished, carried out and envisioned by President Donald Trump.
And thanks to Trump, we’re seeing the left’s hypocrisy and political bias on full display—especially in movies and TV shows.
So while the Progressive Left in Hollywood will continue to paint conservatives as evil, the portrayals in “V For Vendetta” are more in line with what we’re seeing from Democrats as a result of President Trump and the Coronavirus lockdowns.
It’s for that reason why “V For Vendetta” can’t possibly be made today.
12) Die Hard, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Patriots Day and other good guy cop movies.
The radical left is pushing to demonize law enforcement officers, especially in the wake of anti-police riots and protests in 2020.
As such, cop movies like “Die Hard” and “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” where the main character is a good cop would never be made today.
Cop movies that also show local cops working with Federal law enforcement agencies to catch bad guys, like in “Patriots Day,” can’t be made today because Democrat lawmakers and anti-police rioters have condemned aid from U.S. Federal agents and troops in order to stop violence caused by left-wing rioters and looters in 2020.
Local, state and Federal Democrat politicians couldn’t stand “Patriots Day” because the Boston police officers work alongside FBI agents in order to catch the Boston Marathon Bombers.
If these movies were released today, BLM, AntiFa, and many Democrat politicians and media pundits would be rooting for the terrorists and the criminals.
And even though there are some bad cops in these films (or just a couple of arrogant jerks wearing a badge), it’s clear that today’s entire law enforcement system isn’t corrupt. There’s not widespread corruption like there was in specific areas at a specific time period.
You don’t see that today with films like “21 Bridges” and “Cop Land” which portray entire police departments made up of dirty cops.
The people pushing the “Defund the Police” movement believe all cops are evil—just as they believe America is completely evil and systemically racist.
As a result, films that portray good cops as the main characters and as heroic people can’t be made today without saying the entire law enforcement system is inherently corrupt and evil.
13) Man of the Year (2006)
“Man of the Year” tells the story of how voting fraud and irregularities can shape a Presidential election.
The film is about Tom Dobbs (played by Robin Williams), a late-night comedian who decides to run for President of the United States.
Dobbs is able to beat his Democrat and Republican presidential counterparts because of a flaw in the voting machines created by the voting systems company, Delacroy.
The film shows how the Delacroy voting systems company tries to cover up this computer error because it would destroy their business and reputation. They even go so far as to character-assassinate Delacroy whistleblower Eleanor Green (played by Laura Linney) in order to damage her credibility before finally resorting to violence.
Dominion Voting Systems is more sinister than the fictional Delacroy. The fraud and irregularities we’ve seen with the Dominion voting machines, where thousands and hundreds of thousands of votes switched from Trump to Biden, along with the fact that it’s easy to compromise Dominion’s machines, were intentionally made instead of a simple “glitch” in the software.
In some ways, Dobbs is a lot like President Donald Trump, except for their personalities and the fact that Trump ran as a Republican and Dobbs ran as an Independent. Both men are political outsiders who wanted to shake up the political Establishment and most people thought they couldn’t win.
Whereas Trump won the Electoral College in 2016 fair and square, Dobbs’ “victory” happened because of one example of voter fraud and irregularities we’re seeing in the 2020 Election.
Because of Dobbs’ similarities to Trump and the film’s plot around voter fraud and irregularities, “Man of the Year” can’t possibly be made today.
And finally, . . .
14) 1984 (1984)
“1984 (1984)” is based on the novel of the same name by George Orwell. It tells the story of a dystopian world where Earth is divided between three totalitarian states.
The film and novel take places in Oceania, which used to be Great Britain, the United States and Canada. The population lives in perpetual poverty and slavery to the one-party Socialist system of government.
The government controls every aspect of people’s lives and any undesirables are branded as “thought-criminals” and are “cured” (tortured, brainwashed, re-educated, etc.) by the Ingsoc (“English-Socialism,” as Orwell puts it) regime.
Complete loyalty to “the Party” is demanded of Oceania’s citizens and individuals’ rights and freedoms are suppressed, with Big Brother watching your every move.
Even thoughts which the Party deems undesirable are enough to arrest people as “thought-criminals.”
“1984” was supposed to be a warning against communism and socialism (Big Government, “Big Brother”).
Instead, the socialist and totalitarian policies and agenda portrayed in “1984” have been adopted by today’s Democrat Party and their allies in the Liberal Media, Big Tech, Wall Street and Big Business, as well as modern-day Socialist regimes.
Just like Winston (played by John Hurt) and his fellow office workers at the Ministry of Truth, the Liberal Media and Big Tech only report news that benefits their agenda (i.e. the Party, the Democrats, Socialism) and censor any news that goes against that.
We saw this with the Hunter Biden laptop story first published by The New York Post, which was ignored by left-wing media organizations and censored by Big Tech companies because the story would cause massive damage to the Democrats and the corrupt Biden family. It was only after Democrat Joe Biden “won” the 2020 Election that the liberal media started breaking the Hunter Biden story.
I wouldn’t put it past Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to employ secret “Thought Police” against American citizens.
The Democrat Party and their elitist allies also demand complete loyalty to their Socialist policies and beliefs. Anyone and everything they don’t like is labeled “racist,” “fascist,” “Nazi,” “xenophobic,” “homophobic” and a bunch of other “-isms” and “-ics.”
The Democrats’ radical views and policies have become more evident ever since Republican President Donald J. Trump ran as a candidate and won the 2016 Election.
