Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Episode Seven review
Sometimes hard work doesn’t pay off.
That’s what the Bad Batch find out.
In Episode Seven, “Battle Scars,” the Bad Batch continues working for Sid, but she continues to take more than she gives them.
This arrangement comes as she adds “expenses” to the Bad Batch, kind of like how the Federal government and workers’ unions take away workers’ hard-earned wages through taxes and union fees.
Hunter and the gang are going to need a big payday in order to square things with Sid, especially after failing to get the Tactical Droid’s head in the last episode.
But it isn’t all bad news.
The Bad Batch run into an old friend from the Clone Wars: Captain Rex, Echo’s former commander.
Captain Rex was a prominent character on “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
Following the events of “Clone Wars: Season Seven,” Rex has maintained a low profile. It helps that the Empire believes he was killed in action.
Rex reveals that Rafa and Trace Martez informed him about the Bad Batch, and so he tracked the team down.
He is amazed to meet Omega since he’s never met a Clone like her.
Rex also has suspicions about the Bad Batch because they haven’t removed their inhibitor chips. He experienced firsthand how dangerous those inhibitor chips are during Season Seven of “The Clone Wars.”
Hoping to avoid the Bad Batch becoming just like the regular Clone troopers, Rex warns the team that they can’t control those inhibitor chips once they are activated.
The Bad Batch then decide that they must get their inhibitor chips removed. Rex is determined to help them. They decide to trust him.
For some reason, Omega never had an inhibitor inside her head.
The team meets Rex on Bracca, a ship graveyard planet filled with old Republic ships and cruisers from the war. He plans to take them to the medical bay on a Republic cruiser in order to safely remove the Bad Batch’s inhibitor chips from their heads.
The planet is controlled by the Scrapler Guild, so the team and Rex need to avoid them.
Omega is worried that the surgery won’t work the same as it did on Rex, leaving her without her Bad Batch friends.
Hunter reassures Omega that they aren’t going anywhere and that it’s worth the risk.
Things get worse when Wrecker succumbs to the inhibitor chip and turns on his friends. They manage to subdue wrecker long enough to remove his chip.
The rest of the team gets their inhibitor chips removed, making sure that they can’t lose control again.
Rex then goes his separate way to fight for what’s left of the Republic, while the Bad Batch continue on their mission.
Meanwhile, the Scrapper Guild discovers the Bad Batch’s location and reports them to the Empire.
