For Greater Glory: Reaction to the Overturning of Roe v. Wade
We now live in a Post-Roe World.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Friday, June 24, to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
The Daily Wire and Fox News reported that conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, as well as Chief Justice John Roberts, ruled 6-3 majority decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case in favor of repealing Roe v. Wade, with the three liberal Justices dissenting.
(Breitbart News reported the Dobbs decision as 5-4, with Roberts joining the three liberals in opposing the overturning of Roe.)
Chief Justice John Roberts, who is often a turncoat to conservatives (especially during the 2020 Presidential Election and pro-life cases), joined the five conservative Justices in issuing a concurrence for Dobbs but joined the three liberal Justices in opposing the overturning of Roe.
Roberts was also critical of the five conservative Justices for overturning both Roe and Casey.
The Roe v. Wade decision, decided in a 7-2 decision by a liberal-controlled SCOTUS back in 1973, falsely declared there was a constitutional right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution.
Planned Parenthood v. Casey was an infamous SCOTUS pro-abortion decision in 1992 that was also strict down by the Supreme Court in the Dobbs case.
The Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs case declared Roe and Casey unconstitutional, reaffirming the rights of unborn American children and the fact that the U.S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee a right to abortion. It also declared that the Fourteenth Amendment doesn’t guarantee a right to abortion.
You can read the entire Dobbs decision here.
Here are some quotes from Justice Samuel Alito’s majority opinion from the Dobbs decision.
Roe, the abortion decision responsible for the killing of over 70 million American babies since 1973, and Casey are no more.
This decision sends the abortion issue back to the states and the American people.
Individual states can now enforce abortion restrictions within their borders. They have the power to either ban, limit or allow it.
Red states, including Texas and Mississippi, can now enact their pro-life laws and abortion bans without threat from being ruled unconstitutional for violating Roe now that Roe and Casey have been ruled unconstitutional.
Already in Texas, Planned Parenthood has ceased abortion operations in the state thanks to Texas’ pro-life legislation and the efforts of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who is Catholic, posted on social media that “Texas is a pro-life state” and that he and the Texas legislature will work to protect the lives of unborn children.
Here is a list of states that have bans or restrictions on abortion.
Meanwhile, blue states like California have the power to expand abortion or allow or ban it.
Needless to say, conservative media figures praised the Dobbs decision, while liberals in the media were outraged.
Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov, a liberal commentator, used the Dobbs decision to demonize Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his daughters, demonstrating her derangement.
This is nothing new for the Left. The 2017 riots during Trump’s inauguration, as well as the 2020 BLM-AntiFa riots, show that the left has no problem with using physical violence against their opponents or to demonize them.
The Daily Wire’s conservative commentator Ben Shapiro warned about left-wing violence as a result of Roe being overturned.
Indeed, the unprecedented leak of the SCOTUS draft for Dobbs (most likely by a leftist clerk for a liberal Justice) saw abortion activists attacking Catholic churches and pro-life faculties across the nation.
These radical left-wing domestic terrorists also threatened the conservative Justices’ lives, with one leftist extremist arrested for trying to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh and his family.
Department of Homeland Security officials warned Americans about weeks of leftist riots following the Dobbs decision.
Cities across the United States are already seeing left-wing riots in the streets by pro-abortion activists, including against Justice Clarence Thomas.
The conservative Justices deserve praise for standing by their decision to overturn Roe in the wake of the leaked SCOTUS memo. They didn’t give in to left-wing threats of violence against them from democrats and pro-abortion anti-life activist-extremists.
Even after a far-left radical tried to assassination Justice Kavanaugh and his family, the conservative justices stood their ground and voted to overturn Roe.
They didn’t give in to the woke mob.
What also shouldn’t be overlooked is President Donald Trump’s role in this decision, along with his supporters.
Throughout his presidency, President Trump proved himself as a strong pro-lifer. He enacted pro-life policies and legislation, including protecting the Little Sisters of the Poor against the Left’s countless attacks against them.
He also addressed the Right to Life March in D.C. multiple times — one year via video message and another time live in person. This event is attended by a majority of young adults every year, and other March for Life rallies take place across the nation.
Trump became the first sitting U.S. President to address the national March for Life Rally in person.
He also promised the American people that he would appoint judges and Supreme Court justices who would protect the Constitution. He kept his word and delivered.
All three of Trump’s Supreme Court nominations (Gorsuch, Kavanagh and Coney Barrett) voted to overturn Roe, joining Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in the majority.
Everyone who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 helped make this day happen.
The 69 million Americans who voted for him in 2016 and the 75 million who voted for him in 2020 made the Pro-Life Movement’s goal of protecting the rights of unborn children possible.
And when news broke on the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, Trump gave the greater glory to God for this monumental pro-life victory.
He also acknowledged his own role in making the repeal of Roe possible, primarily through his appointment of conservative pro-life nominees to the Supreme Court.
Promises made, promises kept.
And at a Save America Rally in Mendon, Illinois, on Saturday, June 25, Trump praised the overturning of Roe as the “answer to the prayers of millions and millions of people” and “a victory for life.”
Pro-MAGA Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), whom Trump was campaigning for on June 25 and who stood alongside him onstage, thanked Trump for the “historic” Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
He also called for investigations into “organized and concentrated” left-wing efforts to intimidate the conservative Supreme Court Justices.
Trump’s legacy as a pro-life President is firmly in place.
Even though he isn’t Catholic, Trump has proven time and time again that he is a better Catholic than so-called “Catholic” politicians who support abortion—a list that includes Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
Is it any wonder why actual practicing Catholics and other conservatives are against condemn Biden for using his “devout Catholic” faith to defend abortion for decades and vowed to fight against pro-life measures and laws?
Catholic Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis praised the Supreme Court’s pro-life decision, as did Former Vice President Mike Pence, a Christian.
Indeed, pro-life Americans have many reasons to celebrate the repeal of Roe and Casey.
Much like the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dred Scott and Ferguson decisions, two cases enacted by liberal majorities on the bench which “found” a “constitutional right” to slavery and segregation respectively, Roe v. Wade (again, a decision enacted by a liberal-majority SCOTUS) was a prime example of judicial activism—where judges and Justices (particularly Democrat-appointed ones) created new laws instead of interpreting the Constitution’s true meaning as envisioned by the Founding Fathers.
Repealing Roe was a major step against activist judges and the culture of death, a culture that devalued human life. The conservative-majority Supreme Court rightly ruled that our Constitution doesn’t guarantee a “constitutional right” to abortion.
Over 70 million babies died in the U.S. as a result of Roe v. Wade. This pro-abortion ruling’s demise has been coming for a long time.
The end of Roe marks a new turning point for conservative Americans and the Pro-Life Movement.
We must expanded the protections of unborn babies and protect pro-life laws already in place, including those that went into effect when Roe v. Wade was overturned.
As best as we can, we should boycott woke corporations that vow to fund abortion travels for their employees.
The far-left Hollywood elites who bash conservatives, President Trump, Trump supporters and other pro-lifers need to experience more “go woke, go broke” box office bombs as they continue to support abortion and killing unborn children.
It would make the backlash against anti-Trump actor Chris Evans and the box office bombing of Disney’s “Lightyear” look like child’s play.
Pro-lifers must use this major victory to continue promoting the culture of life in the United States.
We are the pro-life generation.
The momentum is on our side.
